In a town inspired by the Bavarian and Swiss mountain villages, no setting would be complete without a proper brewery to match the alpine charm. That’s where Icicle Brewing comes in. Founded in 2010, Icicle Brewing brought locally crafted, high-quality beer to the heart of Leavenworth, providing residents and visitors alike with a drink they could enjoy and celebrate year-round. Since its inception, Icicle Brewing has become more than just a destination for beer lovers—it's a cornerstone of the Leavenworth community. The brewery’s commitment to quality and local values has earned it a special place among residents, contributing not only to the town’s lively beer scene but also giving back to the community in meaningful ways.
However, Icicle Brewing’s connection to beer culture goes back much further than 2010. Its roots are intertwined with the town's tradition of craftsmanship and celebration, helping to preserve and expand Leavenworth’s reputation as a unique destination where visitors can enjoy both Bavarian culture and exceptional locally produced beverages.
Icicle Brewing’s Company roots run deep in the Washington soil—or perhaps more accurately, their rhizomes—in the beer world stretch back over 140 years to the Yakima Valley, where founder Oliver Brulotte’s family first began working in the hop industry. Oliver, a fifth-generation hop farmer, was part of his family’s A/B Hop Farms in Prosser, WA, originally founded by his parents, Ben and Tracy Brulotte, along with his uncle, Arnold Brulotte. Today, you’ll notice the A/B Hop Farms logo on every can of Icicle beer, a tribute to their heritage.
Before A/B Hop Farms, Oliver’s grandmother, Doris Brulotte, farmed hops in Moxee, WA, along with generations before her. Icicle Brewing takes great pride in the fact that Oliver’s mom and grandmother were two of the first female hop driers in the industry. This delicate and highly skilled process can significantly impact the value of hops.
In 2010, with the expertise and guidance of brewmaster and friend Dean Priebe, Oliver and Pamela founded Icicle Brewing Company. Drawing on Oliver’s deep-rooted hop farming heritage and his passion for crafting exceptional beer, the Brulotte’s opened the doors of Icicle Brewing Company in April 2011 at their Front Street location in the mountain town of Leavenworth, WA.
After hundreds of beer awards, in 2019, Icicle Brewing expanded with a new brewery and packaging facility in Leavenworth to meet the growing demand for their award-winning craft beers. They also added a 5-barrel experimental brewery to their original downtown location, allowing Icicle to continue innovating and offer even more beer varieties to guests visiting Leavenworth.
Icicle Brewing fully embodies its core values and beliefs, and this is reflected not only in its employees but also in the vibrant atmosphere it creates for its patrons. Whether it's the team inside, dedicated and passionate about their craft, or the customers outside laughing, chatting, and raising a toast with every pint of Icicle beer, the brewery’s commitment to fostering a sense of community is evident. Icicle Brewing has prioritized staying engaged, listening to its customers, and actively contributing to the positive growth of its local community. This kind of dedication can sometimes be overlooked in the brewing industry, where rapid changes, expanding business pressures, and the fast pace of growth can cause that sense of connection to fade. However, Icicle Brewing has remained true to its roots, ensuring that as it grows and evolves, it continues to be a steadfast and uplifting force for the people who support it year after year.
In a world where time seems to move faster and priorities shift, Icicle Brewing is a reminder of what it means to stay grounded in your values. It’s not just about brewing great beer; it’s about crafting a lasting impact—both within the brewery and far beyond it. And as they continue to pour into their community with the same care they put into every pint, Icicle Brewing’s story is far from over—it’s only just beginning.
